Located about 20 minutes north of Farmville, Bear Creek Lake State Park offers swimming, boating and boat rentals, fishing, hiking, camping and cabin rentals, a meeting facility and more. It is surrounded by Cumberland State Forest.
Passing through the center of Farmville, the "rails-to-trails" High Bridge Trail Park is about 30 miles long. It runs through Cumberland, Prince Edward & Nottoway Counties, and the towns of Pamplin City, Prospect, Farmville, Rice and Burkeville. Site of famous Civil War battle that occurred on April 6, 1865, the "Black Thursday of the Confederacy," located just east of Farmville north of Route 307.
State Park and Conference Center, just east of Farmville. The park offers swimming, boating and boat rentals, hiking, camping and cabin rentals, and a conference center.
Operated by the Town of Farmville, the park includes a lake stocked for fishing, walking trail for bird- and wildlife-viewing, a picnic area, children's playground and skateboarding park, and grass-covered playing fields.
